are there any underground scenes near you - and if so - what kind of music are they spinning (er pressing?). What kind of music isn't getting enough attention that's bubbling under....

What, you don't know?

I wanted juke to be the big thing, still love juke. Trap is happening here.

Looking at that list, I'd say we've got doom, hipster house, lazer, post-tumblr whatever, cloud hop, retrolicious, prob gothgaze too. this is the Bay Area though.

oh and brostep, there was a strong dubstep underground but its no longer underground in US thanks to Skrillex to the chagrin of many.

idk, I am going to wrap up some electronic odds and ends and start playing more guitar and do some kind of goth-something-gaze

I saw a drone band once(think that's the same as doom). Sounded like PaulStretched death metal. I only went for the support act which were all more traditional metal and hardcore and full of beans so when these guys started(couldn't tell if they had started or still tuning up) it kinda sucked the energy out the place. Better for baked listening at home methinks.

I could go for some gothgaze tho.

Drone/doom/stoner are all related I think. You probably do have to be in, um, the right mood. I saw one band close out a night of metal and punk and it was transcendent, it was like the gates of Valhalla opening but yes I was baked. Also like dubstep I find its really good headphone music if you're doing something else, like coding, its perfect.

Gothgaze, I like that sort of Cocteau Twins, 4AD, goth/shoegaze with old drum machine in the background
